A business card is an effective communication tool when you meet somebody and want to immediately pass on your contact info to them. But the problem with business cards is that they often end up inside someone’s wallet or some other a forgettable place.

Magnetic Business Cards

Magnetizing your business card is a good strategy to get it in a person’s regular view. Magnetic business cards come in the traditional 2×3 size, or they can take on a larger shape, sometimes including a calendar.

A magnet with your business name, website address, and contact info is a useful marketing tool. Don’t we all have a magnet on our fridge from some insurance company or local realtor? When it comes to de-cluttering your life, it’s a lot harder to justify throwing away a magnet than it is to throw away a business card. After all, magnets have some kind of purpose. And even if a potential client doesn’t need your services today, he or she may see your magnet later on down the road and contact you.

Magnetic business cards are great to mail current clients, but they are also effective when left at local businesses, professional office spaces, restaurants and doctors offices. Anywhere people are waiting, they may pick up one of your magnets.

Promotional Stickers

When you’re advertising a concert or special event, a new website or another organization that has mass appeal (think about brands that people can identify with in their everyday lives, like Zappos shoes, Fender guitars or Starbucks coffee), promotional stickers can be just the right marketing device.

When creating a promotional sticker, be sure not to include too much information. Instead of printing everything you’d include on a regular business card, stick to just the company logo and website. Also, create a compelling design that will make people want to pick up your sticker and, more importantly, attach it to something they own (like their car, guitar case or laptop case).

Promotional stickers can be used effectively when placed in common areas where people gather (like a college campus, laundromat, or cafe), or when used as part of a direct mail campaign. Like magnetic business cards, stickers are often harder for a person to throw away than a plain business card or brochure. It has more value, and it’s likely that the people who pick these items up off the info table will actually want to display them.
